Crime is Up in North Yorkshire

But despite the 6% increase the county remains one of the safest in the country.

North Yorkshire's latest crime figures show an increase in Violence Against the Person and Public Order Offences but a fall in the number of thefts.

Assistant Chief Constable Mark Pannone says there has been an overall increase in crime in the last year.

However despite the increase in crime over the last 12 months, North Yorkshire remains one of the safest counties in the country.

The latest figures show a six percent increase in recorded crime.

Assistant Chief Constable Mark Pannone says that's in line with the national situation.
