People making plans for Christmas in North Yorkshire are being urged to think carefully about which of the relaxed COVID rules they take advantage of.
The Government announced last week the there will be a five day period over Christmas where bubbles of up to three households can be formed and that some travel restrictions will be eased.
But North Yorkshire's local leaders are urging people to use the relaxation of the rules with care.
Richard Webb is the County Council's corporate Director for Health and Adult Services, he says there is a risk that our actions at Christmas could lead to a spike in ceases in the new year, a time when the NHS is usually under pressure anyway from normal winter illnesses.
Dr Lincoln Sergeant is North Yorkshire's Director of Public Health. He is urging everyone to think about their Christmas plans and weigh up for themselves the risks that exist.
