The Adult Social Care Workforce and Education Project Team have partnered with Shores Homecare Ltd to bring an educational community hub to Withernsea.
On Tuesday 8 July, in collaboration with partner services, East Riding of Yorkshire Council’s adult social care team will be hosting a drop-in service which will offer careers advice and guidance on roles within adult social care settings and services.
The event has been created to support paid and unpaid carers, adults and school leavers by offering careers advice and guidance, information on career pathways, recruitment and interactive sessions. The team will also be able to provide CV support, helping those who are interested in adult social care careers to strengthen their applications.
This is a free, community-based event and the adult social care team will be stationed onboard the ‘Skills for Life’ bus outside of the Southern Holderness Resource Centre (SHoRes), 29-31 Seaside Road, Withernsea between 2pm and 6pm.
The SHoRes Centre is a community hub offering a variety of services, including homecare services, function room and food bank. The centre is dedicated to supporting the local community through its facilities and initiatives.
During the event visitors will be able to ask any questions which they may have and take away informational flyers and leaflets. The team will also be signposting to local health services and will be performing demonstrations on the CPR doll.
Partner services for the event include Shores Homcare Ltd, Alzeimer’s Society, Log on Move on, Matthew Good Foundation, Freedom Providers, Age UK, Holderness Health, Cascade and Active Humber.
Over the next 18 months, the team will continue to bring the Careers on Wheels initiative to rural and coastal schools and communities, spreading knowledge and inspiring future healthcare heroes as part of our adult social care Workforce and Education Project.
Councillor Jonathan Owen, cabinet member for adults, social care and health at East Riding of Yorkshire Council said:
"We are thrilled to team up with SHoRes to bring this invaluable community hub to Withernsea.
‘’The adult social care Careers on Wheels initiative is a fantastic opportunity for residents to explore careers in adult social care, receive guidance, and gain essential skills. This event underscores our commitment to supporting both paid and unpaid carers, adults, and school leavers in their career journeys.
‘’By providing resources and interactive sessions, we aim to empower individuals and strengthen our community. We look forward to welcoming everyone to the event and making a positive impact together."
