Cancer Research Relay for Life Comes to Bridlington

Sewerby Hall is the venue for a 24 hour relay this weekend.

A 24-hour relay is taking place in Bridlington this weekend with teams raising funds for Cancer Research.

Team members take it in turns to walk around a track as part of the Relay for Life event.

Dian Rewston is one of those taking part

The Cancer Research - Relay for Life event will seem 150 people taking part in a walk, jog or saunter around a track to raise money for the charity.

Dian Rewston says it's not a strenuous activity.

Cancer Research say:

"Relay For Life celebrates the power of community fundraising in the fight to beat cancer. Teams of family and friends fundraise for life-saving research then unite as a community to celebrate and remember everyone who has been affected by cancer.

At all Relay For Life events we honour every life touched by cancer during the Candle of Hope ceremony. Dedicating candles to someone no longer with us, a friend or family member living with cancer, a loved one who has survived, or hope for the future - a world where all cancers are cured."

The event starts at midday on Saturday at Sewerby Hall and Gardens. The Candle of Hope Ceremony starts at 8pm.
