A change has been made within Scarborough Council’s cabinet including oversight of Tourism and Marketing.
Councillor Jim Grieve has been appointed as Portfolio Holder for Quality of Life in place of Cllr Phil Kershaw.
Both councillors are members of the Independent Group on the authority that runs the council alongside Labour.
The Local Democracy Reporting Service understands that it was Cllr Kershaw’s decision to stand down from the cabinet and that he remains a member of the Independent Group.
Cllr Kershaw, who has represented the Woodlands division on the council since 2019, has been approached for comment.
As part of the change, the council has also announced that the areas of Tourism and Marketing have been moved into Cllr Grieve’s new portfolio.
They had previously been under the remit of Cllr Liz Colling who holds the Inclusive Growth cabinet position.
Cllr Grieve, who represents Weaponness & Ramshill, also joined the council following the 2019 local elections.
