Busy Week for Hornsea Rescue Team

There have been four call outs in as many days for Hornsea Inshore Rescue.

Yesterday at 13:45 and 19:35, the volunteer rescue crew responded to two separate call-outs for inflatable boats being blown offshore in strong offshore winds.

After searching the area, the team found that thankfully, no one was on board.

On Friday at 18:34 the team were called out to two people in the water who had three other people swim out to them before the rescue team's arrival on scene. All five people had made it back to the shore when the rescue boat arrived.

In addition, on Thursday the Hornsea crew were called at 10:42 to assist two people and two dogs cut off by the tide.

The rescue team say:

"We want everyone to enjoy our beautiful beach, but please:

Be aware of offshore winds – inflatables/paddle boards etc. can drift out to sea in minutes.

Always check the tide times, rising tides can quickly trap you.

Remember, inflatables are not designed for the sea, especially in windy conditions.

Your safety is our priority. Please take care and help us avoid preventable emergencies.

If you find yourself or anyone else in danger, call 999 and ask for the coastguard.

Stay safe by the seaside"
