The Yorkshire Coast's Wet Wheels vessel has been the busiest in England this year.
After being hit hard by the COVID lockdowns last year, Wet Wheels Yorkshire say they have had a bumper summer this year.
Over 1200 people have taken a trip out to sea on the Wet Wheels Yorkshire boat this summer.
The charity run a specially adapted boat on the Yorkshire Coast to enable people with disabilities to take to the waves.
Peter Richardson is the groups' chair he says the boat has been the busiest in England.
The specially adapted vessel enables people with disabilities to enjoy the experience of being on the sea, something that Peter Richardson says has been enhanced this year by the amount of wildlife they've seen.
In an update to supporters of the charity Peter said:
"Whilst 2021 has been a year with many challenges, here at Wetwheels Yorkshire we have tried to remain focussed upon the positives that these strange times have brought. Time spent with family and friends has become more cherished than ever and, as it became appropriate to do so, it was lovely to see larger family groups on board Wetwheels Yorkshire, enjoying a great time on the water, safely, out in the fresh air.
With foreign travel restrictions in place many people took the opportunity to explore the countryside and coastline of our own country, rediscovering what we have all perhaps taken a little for granted.
Whitby, like many attractive coastal towns, saw huge numbers of visitors and it was a challenge to make sure our vulnerable participants were kept distanced from crowds. Many people struggled to find suitable parking and traffic in general was very heavy.
We'd like to thank everyone that, despite all the challenges, made the effort to create some wonderful memories and trusted the volunteer crew of Wetwheels Yorkshire to keep you and your loved ones safe."
