Children of Hilderthorpe Primary School in Bridlington quizzed four members of the cast of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs at Bridlington Spa today.
The children of year 6 took on the role of reporters for the afternoon to pose questions to the cast who are busy rehearsing for next week’s opening show. The children were invited to Bridlington Spa as part of the HEY Children’s University communications experience day.
Brian Capron, playing Hillman the Henchman in the pantomime and known for his role as Richard Hillman in Coronation Street, was the first to face the young reporters and was impressed with the quality of the questions asked.
Brian said:
“The children of Hilderthorpe Primary School asked some really interesting questions throughout the afternoon and I’m sure many of them will make excellent reporters in the future.
“I’ve spoken to many reporters throughout my career but I would have to admit Hilderthorpe Primary School asked some of the most difficult questions I have ever had to answer!”
Fellow cast members playing Snow White (Sophie Holt), Muddles (Troy Harris) and Dame Dolly (Joe Standerline) were also interviewed by the children whilst also taking part in social media and videography workshops.
Mrs Wood, year 6 teacher at Hilderthorpe, added:
“This was an excellent opportunity for the children to experience different types of media. They LOVED questioning the cast of the pantomime and becoming social media stars for the day!”
Andy Marshall, learning experience lead at HEY Children’s University, said:
“Today’s session offered the children a fantastic insight to the world of work and opened their eyes to the vast array of opportunities available to them.
“It’s great to see their confidence build throughout the session and the opportunity to speak with and question the cast of Snow White has been a great added bonus. Our mission at the Children’s University is to offer real life experiences and raise children’s aspirations and we’d like to thank the staff at Bridlington Spa for putting together such a fantastic experience for the children – one I’m sure will be remembered!”
Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs begins at Bridlington Spa on Tuesday, 13 December.
Next week the cast will feature in a live broadcast as This is the Coast's Paddy @ Breakfast comes live from Bridlington Spa on Tuesday morning from 6am-10am.
