Bridlington Town Torment As Unbeaten Run Goes

Seasiders suffer first defeat in NPL East, this season as Derbyshire opponents come from behind.

Mike Thompson's men took an early lead at the Mounting Systems Stadium.

It was big ex-Scarborough Athletic and Whitby Town striker Jake Day who nodded home powerfully on 18 minutes.

However, two goals in as many minutes in the last ten minutes of the first half proved crucial for visitors Matlock Town.

Relegated from NPL Premier last season, the Gladiators netted on 36 and 38 minutes to turn the match on its head.

Brid battled valiantly after the break but the closest they came was another ex-Boro forward, Michael Coulson, seeing a 51st-minute strike ruled out for offside.

The win takes Matlock up to second, Brid sit 8th in NPL East.
