As we reported on Wednesday, detectives launched an investigation into a reported sexual assault on a woman on Rope Walk in Bridlington on Monday.
Updating on the investigation on Friday, Detective Chief Inspector James Clough said:
“Over the course of the last few days, detectives within our Protecting Vulnerable People unit have been conducting numerous enquiries to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident that was reported.
“As a part of our enquires, CCTV has been retrieved and reviewed from the exact location, alongside the surrounding areas and varying times either side of the reported incident, scene searches have been conducted and clothing has been seized.
“With this case, we have found there is no forensic or digital evidence, witnesses or information available that is able to support and substantiate the report. The woman has been updated as to our enquiries.
“We will always thoroughly investigate any report of a sexual offence and conduct detailed analysis of all evidence to piece together and to ascertain all the facts.
