Bridlington hosts its spectacular Armed Forces Day on Saturday.
Bridlington RNLI, The Spa Bridlington, and The Yacht Club are once again proudly hosting the annual Armed Forces Day celebrations.
It starts with a Parade through Bridlington followed by live entertainment from Vintage to modern singers, choirs and historical talks, airsoft range, military vehicles, traditional Gurkha dance, GXO HGV simulator, local and national military organisations, fly past and more.
The parade will step off at 11am from Bridlington Cenotaph before making its way through town, saluting Dias at the Yacht Club, finishing at RNLI lifeboat station, led by a band, standards flying, veterans, cadets, serving personnel all are welcome to take part in the parade.
Many thanks were expressed to East Riding Armed Forces Covenant and Yorkshire Coast BID for supporting with funding and the people of Bridlington for supporting Armed Forces Day 2024.
Martin Barmby is one of the volunteers that helped organise the event, he says it's a community day above all:
The East Riding County Crier will be in attendance. He's telling everybody about Armed Forces Day in the middle of Bridlington and he's leading the parade. He's a veteran, a warrant officer one from the Royal Corps of Signals.
Martin says it's apt that the event comes shortly after the 80th anniversary of D-Day, he says there's lots to see and important people to meet:
The event is expected to be on until around 4pm.
