Denny Ingram’s first game in charge at the Seasiders ended in 1-0 defeat against Trafford in the FA Trophy first round qualifying, after a promising performance.
Ingram told Brid Town TV the better team lost:
Trafford were the first to break the deadlock from a corner and Jordan Fagbola puts it in from close range. About 20 minutes later Micheal Coulson’s free kick was whipped past everybody, but it just went wide. New signing Nathan Dyer had a corner with the ball came to Alex Markham, but his fired shot was parried away by the keeper for another corner.
Early in the second half, Dyer had a chance to score his first goal for the Seasiders, but his shot went straight at the keeper. 12 minutes later, Town had a penalty to put themselves level, but Coulson’s pen was saved. Chances were coming thick and fast but unable to put the cherry on the cake. Kanye Nisbett had a chance to double Trafford’s lead from close range, but he skied it over the bar.
Coulson had a chance for a late equaliser before stoppage time, but his shot was dragged wide. Nisbett had Trafford’s last chance to put the game to bed, but his long-range shot went over the bar.
Star man: Jordan Fagbola (Trafford)
Entertainment rating: 3 stars
