Brid Beaten By Strugglers

Bridlington Town fell to a 2-1 defeat against Sheffield FC at the Hudgell Solicitor Stadium.

Bobby Attree made his debut for the club, making a late appearance off the bench.

Benni Ndlovu, who looked dangerous all afternoon, produced the first clear-cut chance of the game, when his close-range strike forced James Hitchcock into a sensational, point-blank save.

Will Sutton had a couple of chances as the hosts grew their way into the game. His effort inside the penalty area was easily saved by Edd Hall, before the left-back fired well over the crossbar a few minutes later.

After a goalless first half, the second half began with Alex Markham being shown a yellow card. It appeared that the right-back had won the ball, but the strength of the tackle meant that referee Michael Roberts deemed it a bookable offence,

The visitors opened the scoring after 71 minutes. Luke Magham’s effort was well-saved by Hitchcock, but Cameron Johnson reacted quicker than the Bridlington defence to tap home the rebound.

Andy Norfolk’s set pieces looked the Seasiders’ biggest threat, and they came close when his free kick was flicked on by the head of Jack Bulless, though it went just over the bar.

Sheffield’s lead was doubled on the 83rd minute-mark. Connor Cutts and Johnson did well down the left flank, before Mangham produced a good finish past Hitchcock.

With two minutes of regular time remaining, the hosts pulled one goal back with a moment of excellent quality. Substitute Harry Milner spun on the edge of the penalty area, and rifled an outstanding effort into the top corner.

Moments before the full time whistle, Markham was dismissed, having been shown a second yellow card after a foul on the edge of the penalty area.
