Boro and Blues Stay in Promotion Hunt

Scarborough Athletic had a dramatic finish to their trip to Mickleover Sports and Whitby Town remain in the hunt for a play-off spot.

Boro extended their unbeaten run to 11 matches after an exciting finish in Derbyshire, on Saturday.

After a goal-less first half, Will Thornton nodded Jono Greening's men ahead. However, hosts Mickleover looked to have secured a share of the spoils with a penalty in the final ten minutes. But Scarborough continued to push forward and won a spot kick of their own deep into injury time. Luca Colville showed plenty of calmness as he stepped up to slot home from 12 yards and secure a last-gasp victory.

The Seadogs are now just four points off the NPL Premier's top spot, with Whitby Town now up two places to sixth:

The Blues beat Bamber Bridge 2-0, at the Towbar Express Stadium. Brad Fewster put Whitby in front inside 12 minutes and the Lancashire visitors then had goalkeeper Matthew Hudson sent off after handling outside his penalty area. Without a back-up gloveman on the bench, striker Paul Dawson had to go between the sticks. He pulled off some useful stops before Town skipper Danny Rowe celebrated his 100th appearance for the club by nodding home his side's second, early in the second half.

The only disappointment for Whitby was a late red card for substitute striker Marcus Giles after he followed through on Dawson.

Blues joint manager Lee Bullock spoke to Whitby Town TV after the game, he felt a strong start was key:

Bridlington Town had no game on Saturday.
