Boro & Blues Promotion Race Tightens- Brid Suffer Heartbreak

Scarborough Athletic are now nine games unbeaten while Whitby Town and Bridlington Town were denied late on against their respective league leaders.

Boro haven't lost since New Year's Day and were dominant at Lancaster City, with Ryan Watson and the fit-again Michael Coulson scoring in each half to secure a comfortable victory.

It keeps Jono Greening's men fourth in the table:

Athletic are just three points off leaders Matlock Town, who were held 2-2 at Whitby Town.

It could have been even better for the Blues, who twice led in the clash. Lewis Hawkins broke the deadlock on seven minutes only for a 20th minute penalty to level matters.

The NPL Premier's leading goalscorer Jacob Hazel put the Seasiders back in front, just before half-time, but the Gladiators dominated the second period and deservedly levelled, seven minutes from time.

Defeats for nearby Banber Bridge, FC United of Manchester and Warrington Town mean Town stay eighth but with the three teams above them on the same number of points:

Bridlington Town also performed well, against the league leaders, this time in NPL East.

For much of the afternoon, Brett Agnew's men looked nailed on to upset Liversedge at the Hudgell Solicitors Stadium.

Lewis Dennison put them ahead with an early penalty and Danny Earl doubled their advantage, just after the half hour.

However, two goals in nine minutes from the West Yorkshire visitors, including a last-gasp leveller, earned them a 2-2 draw.
