Scarborough Athletic's plans to build a Fan Zone at the Community Stadium have been given a boost.
Supporters group - The Valley Bar Seadogs - have set themselves the target of raising ten thousand pounds towards the Fan Zone project and have made an initial contribution of two and a half thousand pounds.
Chris Pilmer is from the group.
The club want to build the new fanzone facility at the Scarborough sports village. The cost of the Fan Zone will be covered by the club which has applied for £50,000 from the Premier League Club Development fund.
Chris Pilmer from the valley bar Seadogs says they've already made a contribution of two and half thousand pounds which was warmly welcomed by the club.
Scarborough Athletic say:
"We are delighted that the VBS have kicked off this campaign with a donation of £2,500. They have a range of fundraising activities coming up, these will be backed by the club and we hope by the fans too.
The Fan Zone will enhance the matchday experience, as well as an additional revenue stream for the club. The project will provide the opportunity for the club to have its first ‘owned and controlled’ area since formation, with an office, shop, storage and bar.
The club is making progress with the Premier League funding bid, planning permissions and land lease, with the aim for works to begin this summer. Further updates will follow with the progress of the project.
We are grateful to the Valley Bar Seadog Committee for their continued support and hard work. This campaign allows fans to get involved and help create the new Fan Zone as well as ensuring that Jono’s playing budget continues to grow."
