The Blues never got going, at the Towbar Express Stadium, against highflying Marine.
Midfielder Jamie Bramwell had to slot into central defence as Harrison Beeden served a one-match suspension, but Adam Gell was fit again after his dead leg. Striker Brad Fewster completed his ban.
Town found themselves 2-0 down to the Merseysiders with a penalty, 14 minutes from time, sealing a 3-0 defeat.
