Whitby Stopper Shane Celebrating after Proposing on Christmas Day

Shane Bland proposed to partner Claire on Christmas Day

Whitby Town FC may not have been playing over Christmas, but their goalkeeper got a great result.

Club captain Shane Bland shocked partner Claire on Christmas Day when he asked her to marry him, she promptly said yes.

The couple have since announced they're expecting a baby boy in the new year.

Bland, who started out his career with Middlesbrough's academy, gave his wife to be a long letter to read while grinning at the camera and surprising her on one knee as she stopped to glance up. 

The clip was posted on the gloveman's Twitter. Listeners can hear Claire's gasp as she sees Bland reveal the engagement ring followed by her acceptance and his delighted reaction:
