Whitby Town slipped back into the NPL Premier relegation after rivals Lancaster City won with a header in the final header.
The North West side leapfrogged Nathan Haslam's men with the last gasp heartbreak.
It started so well too, with Aaron Haswell scoring one of his trademark early goals as he put Whitby ahead inside two minutes.
The visitors then levelled with a disputed penalty as Lancaster striker Dave Norris reportedly later admitted he dived- regardless Sam Bailey tucked away the resulting 20th-minute penalty.
A scrappy encounter then meandered into the closing stages where City won it late on.
