Pancake day racing and Shrove Tuesday Skipping have returned to the town today.
After a two year gap due to the pandemic, Scarborough's traditional pancake day racing returned to Aberdeen Walk at lunchtime.
Twelve teams from local businesses took part in the fancy dress obstacle course race, with hundreds of people turning up to watch.
The event was organised by Scarborough Borough Council, Mayor Eric Broadbent got the proceedings underway at midday by ringing the pancake day bell.
The teams then took part in a number of knockout heats before the grand final took place between Boyes and McDonalds Town Centre.
The teams were judged not only on their racing prowess but also their costumes, entertainment value and how much pancake was left in their frying pan at the end of the race.
Charlie was competing for Scarborough Athletic
Tom was competing for Saint Catherine's team and was a little over confident.
In the final the defending champions, Boyes, were beaten by just one point by the Town Centre McDonalds Team.
The Borough Mayor, Councillor Eric Broadbent felt the event went well.
After the racing the focus shifted to the Foreshore where hundreds of School Children had been given the afternoon off school to take part int eh traditional skipping event.
