Police are looking for witnesses after an attempted robbery of a man in Scarborough.
It took place at approximately 1.10am on Wednesday 13th October at the junction of Seamer Road and Falsgrave Road close to the Shell garage and traffic lights.
A 47-year-old man was approached by two other men who asked for cigarettes, and when the victim tried to ignore the men, he was followed and tried to run away. The victim ended up on the ground and the men tried to take property from him.
Two men, aged 22 and 44, were arrested in connection with the incident. They have been released under investigation pending further enquires.
Police say they believe the victim was trying to attract the attention of traffic during this time and officers are appealing for any witnesses to the incident to come forward.
