North Yorkshire Police have launched an appeal for information after a distressing incident involving a man in his fifties who was attacked by three teenagers in the Lacey Avenue area of Seamer, close to Scarborough.
The assault occurred around 8.30pm on Saturday, 28 February, as the victim was walking through a snicket between Lacey Avenue and Napier Crescent.
According to police reports, the attackers demanded money from the man, who was walking with crutches and wearing a leg brace. Despite being knocked to the ground, the victim managed to defend himself, prompting the suspects to flee the scene empty-handed.
The suspects are described as being aged between 15 and 17 years old and were reportedly wearing dark coloured tracksuits at the time of the incident.
In light of this incident, authorities are urging anyone who may have witnessed the attack or has information that could assist in the investigation to come forward. They are particularly interested in any private CCTV or doorbell camera footage from the area around the time of the assault.
Detective Paul O'Neill stated,
“We encourage anyone who was in the vicinity during the time of the incident to contact us, as even the smallest piece of information could be crucial in our investigation.”
