The A64 has now reopened after an earlier collision.
The A64 was closed for a time on Friday while emergency services dealt with a serious collision between Sherburn and Ganton.
Officers has warned that the road was likely to be closed for some time and asked drivers to avoid the area while crews dealt with the scene.
North Yorkshire Police say that the road reopened just after 2:30pm.
