An overnight closure of a section of the A64 between York and Scarborough will see drivers diverted via Thirsk, this weekend.
Highways England say they will be repairing the A64 between Sand Hutton and Whitwell on the Hill over the weekend. They will also be renewing road markings along this route.
For the safety of motorists and the workforce, there will be full overnight closures of the A64 within this area:
- 27 to 28 September 2025 (10pm-6am)
Pickering Town Council added:
'We have been informed that the A64 will be closed on the 20th and 21st September between 22.00pm and 6.00am, with contingency dates of 27th and 28th September, to allow highways to complete patching works. The road will be closed between Sand Hutton and Whitwell and diversions will be in place.'

Motorists will be diverted northwest at:
- Hopgrove on to the A1237
- on to the A19 northbound
- drivers will then continue northbound to Thirsk
- before taking the A170 east to Pickering
- and then the A169 south to re-join the A64.
