The A171 is reopen this morning after yesterdays closure due to fire.
Crews from Whitby, Filey, Danby, Coulby Newham, Robin Hoods Bay and Sherburn attended a large moor fire covering around 250 square meters near the Flask Inn yesterday evening.
The fire which was reported just before 5pm saw smoke reducing visibility on the main Whitby to Scarborough road and fire close to the roadside.
North Yorkshire Fire Service say crews have been fighting the fire overnight but the incident has now been scaled down to one appliance.
North Yorkshire Police say there are now no road closures in the area.
