The A169 has now reopened after a serious collision closed the road.
North Yorkshire Police reported that the the A169 was closed between Saltersgate Bank and Goathland earlier due to what they describe as "a serious road traffic collision."
Officers asked motorists to find an alternative route while the closure was in place.
They said:
"We received reports of a road traffic collision on the A169 near RAF Fylingdales at 07.42am this morning (Wednesday 26 October 2022).
The A169 is expected to remain closed for some time.
We currently have a local diversion in place but we're asking HGVs to avoid the area.
Anyone who has witnessed the collision is asked to contact North Yorkshire Police on 101, select option 2 and ask for the Force Control Room.

The road reopened shortly before 3pm.
