There are hopes that any new Electric Vehicle charging points that are installed across North Yorkshire will be put in places where people can easily use them.
It's estimated that over 3,000 charging points will be required across the county by 2030 to meet the demand.
Councillor Bryn Griffiths says that the charging points should be installed in business parks, retail parks and industrial sites to support local businesses.
To fund the new charging points, £2.2 million has been secured from the national Local Electric Vehicle Infrastructure pilot scheme which is there to install 70 charging points. There has also been £1.2 million of capital funding to provide a further 80 charging points.
Assistant Director for Highways & Transportation, Barrie Mason, said that it's vital that the Electric Vehicle charging points are put in hub locations so people can make use of them.
