As schools return after the Easter Break today, North Yorkshire's Director of Young People's Services says the testing system in secondary schools is working well.
Most schools on the Yorkshire Coast are returning after the Easter Break today.
Lateral flow testing will continue for secondary pupils and face masks will continue to be used.
North Yorkshire's Director of Children and Young People's Services, Stuart Carlton says 100,000 tests have been carried out so far:
"The lateral flow testing then returned only 26 positive cases so the number that its returning are thankfully very low.", he said.
"But that's 26 children that are then able to not come in to school and pass on Covid and we're able to then take the appropriate action.
"So a great take up of the tests which should give parents and staff in all schools real confidence in the system.
He isn't anticipating much of a change in routine for the county's schoolchildren and teachers after a largely-successful return.
"We think the first few weeks have gone really well- attendance has remained high across both primary and secondary schools." he added.
"Schools have settled into a routine of the lateral flow testing of pupils.
"We're not expecting any particular changes, we know already that the voluntary use of face coverings in secondary schools will remain until the May Bank Holiday and then be reviewed.
"We feel it's very much carry on as we are."
