Yorkshire Water say that the £110m spent improving water quality on the Yorkshire Coast has made a big difference despite the poor quality at Bridlington's South Beach.
Bathers will be advised against going into the sea off Bridlington South Beach next summer after the water quality there was rated poor.
The reason for the poor rating remains a mystery, with neighbouring Bridlington North Beach classed as good and other nearby beaches rated excellent.
Lee Pitcher from the company says the money spent over the last decade has helped eliminate a number of historic problems.
