Performers:
Romy Taylor - Romy is a rising alt-pop artist originally from the south of Spain. Her unique sound blends jazz-fusion, Spanish influence, and dreamy pop, drawing on inspiration from Nai Palm, Eloise, Björk and Minnie Riperton. Romy writes for the emotionally articulate, crafting catchy yet thought-provoking songs with her Leeds-based band. Having played We Out Here Festival and sold out headline shows in Leeds, she’s also a regular on BBC Introducing and Radio 5 Live. Expect an atmospheric, floaty set full of captivating melodies and warm textures.
Matt Hooper - Multi-award-winning singer-songwriter Matthew J. Hooper, based in Northern England, seamlessly blends classic singer-songwriter aesthetics with a distinctive northern indie sensibility. His music, rich with evocative storytelling, draws inspiration from the American Mid-West & a pivotal stint in Nashville, Tennessee, which notably landed him a Billboard No. 1. Hooper's new material reflects this unique fusion (Wilco, Cash, Elbow, Elliot Smith, Arctic Monkeys, Wheat, Grandaddy, John Prine) offering listeners an evolving landscape through pop melodies and heartbreak lyrics. With a reputation for crafting compelling narratives and memorable tunes, Matthew J. Hooper brings the soulful depth of vintage Music City together with the raw, authentic spirit of the North.
Sandra's Wedding - With their jangly guitars, whip-smart lyrics, and working-class charm, Goole-based band Sandra’s Wedding draw easy comparisons to The Housemartins and The Smiths. Their sepia-tinged indie pop captures love, loss and life in Northern industrial towns, with songwriter Joe Hodgson’s vivid storytelling front and centre. Their back catalogue – from debut album Northern Powerhouse to Pleasure Grounds (featured by Simon Armitage on BBC 6 Music) – has earned them praise across the board. Expect wit, warmth and wonderful melodies from a band that captures the heart of the North.
