Scarborough Sea Pool CIC are planning a challenge for the Scarborough 400 celebrations. On Sunday 15th November 2026 at 1pm

They want as many people as possible (ideally 400) to join them on the beach at Scarborough’s South Bay near the Beachcomber Kiosk. Participants will make a big number 400 on the beach.
Scarborough Sea Pool CIC will provide a brightly coloured swimming hat for each participant. People of any age* can join in and even dress up as your favourite sea creature. Optional quick dip in the sea afterwards, subject to weather and sea state, tide is forecast to be low. *Participants under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult
The aim is to fundraise towards the project to build a new tidal sea pool, close to the Spa at Scarborough South Bay. The project has already had pledges from anonymous donors of £1500 towards this and we are aiming to raise an additional £1500.
Scarborough Sea Pool CIC said, “The project is reaching an important milestone in progressing with marine engineering and specialist technical surveys, which this funding will help with.The 400 on the beach challenge will be a fun, creative and visually engaging way for people to show support for the Scarborough Sea pool project and to keep the Scarborough 400 celebrations going into the Autumn”.

"Scarborough without a Sea Pool is like fish without chips"
Scarborough Sea Pool CIC are a passionate and committed group of sea swimmers and cold water dippers. We want to have a tidal sea pool in Scarborough so it is safer for everyone to swim all year round, so that others new to sea swimming and cold water dipping can feel safer. We are also aiming for the sea pool to be a venue for open water swimming events and water safety training.
